General Construction Contractors – 6 Questions to Ask Before You Hire One

Are you looking for new home construction? Or, maybe you just want to make a few changes to your home. After all, because of low property values and skyrocketing utility bills, remodeling has become a popular option. Either way, you need general construction contractors who will give you the best results at the best price.

So how do you find one? Start by asking these 6 questions:

    1. Are they on time?

After all, you do not want your remodeling or new construction to take forever. Once you’ve decided to make changes, you want to get into your new or remodeled home as soon as you can. You do not want to worry about unnecessary delays from your contractor.

    1. Can they stick to your budget?

General construction contractors need to be your partner in this process. You both should be working together to ensure that you get the home of your dreams. You should not have to spend your time reigning in your contractor’s spending.

    1. Do they offer a good warranty?

Good general construction contractors are proud of their work and will not hesitate to stand behind it. If they will not guarantee their work for at least a few years, think twice about hiring them.

    1. Are they accredited by the Better Business Bureau?

Remodeling and new home construction is full of people who don’t have homeowners’ best interests in mind. A quick call to the Better Business Bureau, or a short visit to the BBB’s website, can give you the real story.

    1. Are they experts on solar power installations?

Thanks to skyrocketing utility prices, solar panels have become popular. However, solar power installations can be tricky. If you want to take advantage of solar power, you will need a certified expert.

    1. Are they experts in green construction?

Remodeling and new construction has definitely gone green. You need general construction contractors that know the ins and outs of going green. Do they know the best ways to reduce your water consumption? Do they use insulation that will drive down your energy costs? Do they know which appliances are the most energy efficient?
